Social media, and Facebook in particular, has had a bad rap over the years for banal content about what people ate for breakfast or crazy cats. When you’re using Facebook for business, the challenge is to cut through this stuff and the way to do that is through the use of a professional tone or voice, that echoes the personality you want to establish for your brand. This tone applies to visual content as well as words.
As I explain in the video, it doesn’t need to be formal or stuffy, it does need to be passionate, courteous and balanced. Where it can get tricky is when you have several people all contributing to the same channel of information e.g. two or three Facebook administrators. One way to handle this within a business is to give each person a channel to look after – one on Facebook, one on Twitter and one on Instagram – or whatever platforms you’re using. This only works though if everyone communicates clearly and often with each other, and all are working to the same plan.
If you don’t have a plan, or you’d like to know more about how to create and curate professional content for your social media channels, contact us soon about our intermediate level workshops coming up in July and September 2015. There’s more information on the Workshops page of this site.
